Help preserve the safety of Meridian School Districts most precious commodity... our children !
So ... you are sitting behind a bus with the stop arm out, and all of a sudden the person behind you whips out and floors it right past the bus !!! If you see this crime happening, there is something you can do.
Don't assume that the Bus Driver should get the license number, fill out a stop arm violation, and forward the form to the Sheriffs Department. Too often our bus drivers are busy watching our children, and it can occur too quickly to get the information. So, i f you see this situation take place, on behalf of our children, please help. Call the Sheriff's Office at 815-732-6666. You will need the following information-- Make, Model, License #, Time, Date, Gender, and Direction of Travel.
The law states that the 1st violation is 150.00 dollars and 500.00 dollars for each subsequent violation. If the offender is convicted, the Secretary of State may suspend the license.
We understand that it may take some of your time, but your quick actions could save a life!
