Athletes for Literacy

Success... On and Off the Court – Athletes participating in winter sports promoted literacy as a team approach. Coaches and over 100 athletes decided there was something more important then going straight to practice. Athletes, dressed in uniform, along with their coaches walked through the doors a local elementary school for a cause: promoting literacy. Athletes read to eagerly awaiting young people in grades pre-kindergarten to second for thirty minutes. This event was covered by channel 13, WREX and was showcased on both the 6:30 and 10:00 news segment.
As spring sports come into play, athletes will once again march over to Highland to stress the importance of literacy to our young people.
