The Pig has Arrived!

Pre-school had excitement Wednesday, April 9. The topic was "the Farm." We talked about pigs, cows, tractors and everything to do with farming.
Patrick, a pre-school, lives on a pig and cow farm. His parents agreed to bring in a piglet. The piglet was 10 pounds and two weeks old. Mr. Piglet arrived in a 5 gallon bucket with straw on the bottom.
The pre-school children went outside and spent time with Mr. Piglet. Mr. Piglet was scared and on the cement he walked on his knees. However, when he found the grass, he was no longer stressed and enjoyed the grass and mud.
The children enjoyed petting, running and learning about pigs. For example, did you know that in only 5 months old, Mr. Piglet will weigh 250 pounds and be ready to be sent to slaughter?
Let's not forget about the cows. We talked about cows, and where milk comes from. Patrick told the entire class that he has lots of cows.
To celebrate Farm Day, we ate animal crackers and drank milk.
