Free Yourself

Offshoot of Challenge Day!

By Cathie Murphy

March 24, 2010

There is a new group at SVHS called Free Yourself.  The group is an offshoot of the Challenge Day Program, that was experienced by nearly 250 students and adults in September of this year.

The objective of the Free Yourself group is to create an environment where students feel they can be open and honest around their peers.  Using jargon from Challenge Day, the group is a place where students can "empty their emotional balloons."  A critical component of the group, though, is trust; all those in attendance at the weekly meetings must be able to commit to keeping what they hear in Free Yourself "in the group."

The group meets weekly from 7:30-8:10 AM in the Auxiliary gym. If you are interested, please see Mrs. Mogge in the counseling office, or call her at 815-645-2291.
