Keep the Drive!!!
Use your journalism skills to educate your peers!
November 22, 2009
Keep the Drive is challenging you to spread the word about the dangers of texting while driving by using your journalism skills to help save lives. You could win up to $3,000!
Car crashes are the No. 1 killer of teens and most crashes are preventable. We believe that students, given the right mix of encouragement and an exciting forum, can become a driving force in educating their classmates about smart driving.
Here's how you can enter the "Keep the Drive High School Journalism Awards":
- Go to http://www.keepthedrive.com/HSJ.aspx to find complete rules, entry form, story ideas, helpful statistics, graphics and other useful resources.
- Write an article about the dangers of texting while driving and get it published in your school newspaper or create a broadcast segment that is aired through the in-school broadcast network.
- Entries due by March 20, 2010.
- Print entries will be judged on readability, quality, and message.
- Broadcast entries will be judged on overall segment flow, message, and quality.
- Each category will have first through fifth place--winners receiving up to $3,000!
Our SVHS high school website encourages you to submit an article as well as another way to keep the dangers of texting on front page news.
Thank you for joining Channel One News, and our friends at Keep the Drive and the All-State foundation, to promote smart teen driving at your school.
