SVHS Cardinal Integrity Program
A new program called Cardinal Integrity began in 2010 @ SVHS. The Cardinal Integrity program is a form of the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) system that is being implemented throughout the district. The main focus of this program is to provide a clear system for all expected behaviors. SVHS faculty and students may have many assumptions of what is expected behavior, but we can not assume that everyone’s beliefs are similar. Through the Cardinal Integrity Program, we will work to create and maintain a productive, safe environment in which all school community members have clear expectations and an understanding of their role.
The Cardinal Integrity Program takes a proactive approach to discipline. A small number of clearly defined behavioral expectations are defined in positive, simple, rules. The three pillars of Cardinal Integrity are: Respect; Responsibility; and Character. The behavioral expectations will be taught to all students in the building. The expectations will be taught in real contexts. Once the appropriate behaviors have been defined and taught, they will be acknowledged. A clear procedure has been developed to correct behavioral errors proactively. Students, teachers, and administrators all should be able to identify these behavioral errors.
