Meet Cherie!

Cherie Bertsch grew up in DeKalb, Illinois.  She is the oldest of three girls.  Mrs. Bertsch got her Bachelors degree in Home Economics Education from the University of Illinois in Champaign, Urbana.  Her first job was with the University of Illinois Cooperative Extension Service where she served as Home Economics Adviser in both Ogle county and Boone county over a sixteen year period, as well as Unit Leader.  Her teaching career began at Byron High School, where she was a part-time foods teacher for eight years.  In 2005 she began teaching here at Stillman Valley High School where she currently teaches foods, adult living and consumer education.

Mrs. Bertsch is married with two children, Cade and Annalisa.  They live on a farm near Stillman Valley.  Her husband, Kortney, owns his own business in Oregon called Ideal Metal Fabricating, Inc.  Her hobbies include cooking, playing the piano, and collecting antiques.
