Academic Reading Buddies

Every Wednesday afternoon during February and March, forty-five students enter the doors of Highland Elementary School where they participate in the fourth year of our Reading Buddies program. These students underwent two hours of training before heading to Highland to read to groups of three to five children in kindergarten - second grade classrooms. The Reading Buddies introduce their eager young friends to an abundance of books. These half-hour sessions with the Reading Buddies are immensely rewarding to elementary and high school students alike.
