Last Week's Game Recap!

By Coach Rempfer

"Evansville came out with the intention of passing and using formations that we had not prepared for based on film. It took us a quarter to adjust and get control of what we wanted to do. We have to give a lot of credit to Evansville for executing early and forcing us to work. The key for us early was our physicality. There were a handful of violent hits that set a tone for the rest of the game (Go Eric B!) I believe we wore them down and were able to dictate things in the second half. It was a good test for us and most definitely will be helpful when we take on a passing team like Wauconda this weekend."

Thanks Coach Rempfer for some great insights!

This Week's Matchup:

So what about this week's game? What can we expect from Wauconda?  According to Coach Rempfer:

"Wauconda features an extremely talented quarterback who might be better with his feet then with his arm. However, they do have a great set of wideouts and tight ends that they utilize well.  This team comes from a bigger conference and sports some real athleticism. We have our work cut out for us, but we are up for the challenge.

Our success will rely on controlling the athletes in front of us by limiting big plays. If we allow them 2-15 play-scoring drives, they will score. However, if we can frustrate them and get some big turnovers we will be in good shape.

I am excited about our offense and special teams making big plays in this game; maybe even momentum plays."

There's one thing we can be sure of this week: the game will be exciting. Wauconda is a tough opponent, so we need our SVHS fans, big and small, to be in the stands and lined along the fence, cheering our guys on. It is amazing how the cheer of the crowd can motivate and push forward our team when the going gets tough.

Remember:  sophomore game starts @ 5:00 and varsity @ 7:00. Our guys are looking forward to lots of familiar faces in the stands this week, so come out and support the team! As always,

Be proud! Be strong! Be Stillman!
