On Friday, September 20th, coaches delayed practice and games for more than 200 Stillman Valley High School fall athletes.  This delay allowed athletes to promote reading in Stillman's Athletes for Literacy program.

Athletes read to some of their favorite fans in kindergarten through second at Highland Elementary in Stillman Valley, IL.  According to Kyle Hartzell, a junior on the varsity football team, "It's nice to read to the kids and see the smiles on their faces when I read.  I know these kids look up to me, and it's nice to know that I made their day." Lindsey Hickey, a varsity cheerleader, commented, "It's incredible to help kids and have fun while doing it." This is the eighth annual, seasonal event.  Athletes for Literacy will come back to read in the winter and again in the spring.
