Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution
November 23, 2009
The Sonsand Daughters of the American Revolution(SAR, DAR) honor one boy and one girl from each of the fifty states. These students are submitted by public, private and parochial high schools. They should represent qualities that determine good citizenship:
• LEADERSHIP–Personality, self control, ability to assume responsibility
• DEPENDABILITY- Truthfulness, loyalty, punctuality
• SERVICE–Cooperation, courtesy, consideration of others
• PATRIOTISM – Unselfish interest in family, school, community, and nation, to an outstanding degree
The purpose of this project is to pay tribute to youthful character and to call attention to those qualities that are desirable in good citizens.
The first step in our process is to get nominations from our staff. They are asked to choose three boys and three girls from the senior class that they feel model these qualities. We then ask the senior class to choose from the top nominees who they feel excel in those same qualities.
Congratulations to our SARnominees: Daniel D, Jake H, Ryan P. & Tim R. and to the DARnominees: Nicole F., Brena G., Sarah L. & Elizabeth W.
The girl selected by the staff and her peers is: Brena G.
And the boy is: Tim R.
